MKBC’S Quality Assurance Department audits all systems for compliance with cGMPs, AABB Standards and FDArequirements. The blood center is one of few blood centers in the USAthat is ISO 9001-2000 certified. The certification is an indication of the blood center’s compliance to the ISOquality system requirements. All MKBC employ- ees receive annual cGMPtraining.

Quality audits include the review and assessment of laboratory tests, evaluation of errors and accidents, review and approval of training and competency programs and appropriate corrective and preventive action.

  1. Testing Contracts/Requests for Proposal
    Requests for contracts that include pricing and test packages should be forwarded to the VPof Administration. All requesting facilities will receive a draft contract for review that addresses their specific needs. At MKBC, contracts are reviewed by the VPof Administration, Director of Laboratory Services and the Director of Quality Assurance.
  2. Customer Service
    It is MKBC’s desire to provide its customers with exceptional quality service. Please contact the Manager, Donor Testing Services or the Director of Laboratory Services to alert us to any problems, concerns or issues that your facility may have regarding our service. In the event your facility is not satisfied with the service provided, we will evaluate your concerns promptly to determine where processes can be improved.
  3. Turn Around Time
    MKBC realizes the importance of receiving testing results quickly. Therefore, results for NAT testing samples received by approximately 11 pm will be transmitted to you by 4 pm the following day. Testing results are transmitted via fax, emails, or FTP.

    Currently only NAT testing is performed 7 days a week. MKBC is preparing to perform all testing 7 days per week within the near future.
